SCS undertook the task of replacing obsolete PLC, SCADA systems for a complete Malting plant (6 Conical Steeps, Flat Bottomed Steep/ 4 Germination Vessel & Kiln). Existing I/O was retained and connected to 5 new Schneider Electric Quantum processors via Remote I/O. Each PLC system has a local HMI connected via Ethernet, which connects all the systems via a fibre optic link. An SCADA system was installed to provide additional monitoring, Recipe handling and Reporting functionality. The system was completely tested at our offices, with the use of additional simulation code prior to installation. Commissioning was completed without interrupting production, which is a 24/7 operation.
